If Rolls-Royce was officially present in Vietnam in January of October 2014, Bentley was only present more than January, the most headache was probably Lamborghini Hanoi. The super sports car company from Italy has not officially opened its dealership located in Hanoi and has just announced the price of 8 models they distribute in Vietnam. However, recently the Ministry of Industry and Trade has just launched a plan to apply special consumption tax on passenger cars being studied. With this plan, the subject of the most taxation is the imported supercars with large cylinder capacity.
Accordingly, the models of the above mentioned 3 firms are in the list of tax increase up to 195% compared to 60% as before. In addition to other taxes such as import tax from 1 / 1 / 2015 is 55%, VAT 10%, the price of the car will be pushed up to millions of dollars. Specifically, if that happens, the price of some vehicles will be pushed to super high levels, namely:
Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 cost more than 40 billion
The taxes include: Lamborghini Aventador owns a cylinder engine of up to 6.6L so this car will be subject to a special consumption tax of up to 195% instead of the same rate of 60% formerly. In Europe, the car is priced at USD 380.000, after being applied the vehicle taxes will cost as follows:
- Import tax = 380.000 × 0,55 = USD 209.000
- Special consumption tax = (import tax + real import price) x1.95 = 1.148,55 USD
- VAT = (special consumption tax + import tax + import tax) x0.1 = 173,755 USD
- Total payable tax = import tax + VAT + special consumption tax = USD 1.531,305
Thus, the car price after tax will be USD 1.911.000 equivalent to the price of VND 40 billion instead of the VNDUMUMXX that the company has just announced, a too big number.
Similarly with 6.0L cylinder capacity and the US price is 212.800 USD, after taxing as on Bentley Contiental GT convertible 2013 will cost up to 1.070.000 USD equivalent to 22 billion. Or 1 genuine Rolls-Royce Wraith will also cost more than 33 billion VND instead of the current VND 18 billion.
If this happens, surely the new supercar manufacturers present in Vietnam will continue to cry because the tax is too terrible. However, this is only the plan being studied by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and in the discussion period. In the immediate future, we will continue to wait for the next move of managers.
