How Many Cars Are Overcome?

Article 14. Overtaking - The road traffic law states:

1. Vehicles requesting for overtaking must be signaled by lights or horns; In urban areas and densely populated areas, from now until the beginning of the year, the only time of going to the crossroads is to signal for a passing.

2. The vehicle overtaking is allowed to overtake only when there are no obstacles ahead, there is no vehicle running in the opposite direction on the roadway intended for overtaking, the vehicle ahead has no signal to overtake another vehicle and has avoided to the right.

3. When a vehicle asks to overtake, if it is safe to do so, the driver of the vehicle ahead must slow down and keep on the right side of the road until the following vehicle has passed and must not obstruct the vehicle. With the car please pass.

a) When the vehicle ahead has signal to turn left or is turning left;

b) When a streetcar is running in the middle of a road;

c) When specialized vehicles are working on the road and cannot pass on the left.

5. Do not overtake a vehicle in any of the following situations:

a) Failing to meet the conditions specified in Clause 2 of this Article;

b) There is one lane on the narrow bridge;

c) Detours, slope heads and locations with restricted visibility;

d) At crossroads and roads at the same level as railways;

d) When weather or road conditions do not ensure safety for overtaking;

e) Priority vehicles are giving priority signals on duty.

Penalty: According to Article 5, section 5, Clause c:

Fine of 2.000.000 to 3.000.000 VND for the following acts: Overtaking in cases of overtaking; No signaling before overtaking; overtaking other vehicles on the right where it is not allowed, except where there is a lot of lanes for vehicles traveling in the same direction distinguished by the lane markings where vehicles on the right lane run faster than cars currently running on the left lane.
